A Memorial Day Story – George Washington and the Cherry Tree

Memorial Day is a time in the USA to remember fallen soldiers. It is also a time to think on why those women and men gave their lives. What does this country mean?

As a rule, I avoid didactic or overly “political” stories. The story of “George Washington and the Cherry Tree,” originally penned by Parson Weems is an exception. It speaks to many audiences, young and old alike. I’ve taken the liberty of expanding the moral beyond truth to responsibility.
