Author Visits and Residencies
As an author who tells stories, and a storyteller who writes, Mark Binderis uniquely positioned to talk with students about the process of writing and publishing -- without losing their attention.
All of his author visits start with a reading selection, and then depending on the size of the group and the focus of the school's interest, the floor is opened to questions, or directed down another channel.
Mark will then begin to tell stories -- and demonstrate the distinction between the written and spoken word forms.
Included in a short author's visit is a mini-lesson on the creative process and the arc of a story.
Residencies
Residencies are multiple-day programs that allow students
and teachers to develop a deeper relationship with the author as well as in-depth workshops on writing and telling stories. Each residency is crafted to
meet the demands of the particular school. Residencies include a blend
of presentations and workshops, allowing every student in a school to
participate and learn.
Both single and multiple day residencies can include evening family or community story concerts.
