Eleanor lived alone with two stepsisters in a skinny house that her father had left to her in his will. By all rights the house belonged to Eleanor, yet her stepsisters treated her very poorly. They made her do all the cooking, all the cleaning, all the washing, and even made her scrub the toilets….

Sometimes a story starts with the writing. Sometimes, as with Cinderella Spinderella the spoken-word comes first. With this project, we had the challenge: how can we illustrate a book so that anyone can see herself or himself in it?

     “I’m practicing,” Jacob laughed. “It’s going to happen any day now.”
